Natural tick repellent

Navigating to a natural solution.
Finding the path to regulatory approval for a new tick repellent
The Opportunity
Every year thousands of Canadians are infected with Lyme Disease because of an encounter with ticks. As Lyme Disease-carrying tick populations are on the increase, those who enjoy outdoor activities in the spring, summer, and fall need reliable protection. Traditional insect repellent products often contain harsh chemicals to be effective, but AtlanTick have leveraged natural plant-based ingredients derived from indigenous practices to create a powerful new line of tick repellent solutions.
The Challenge
Bringing a new wellness product to market is not easy. There are many complex regulatory requirements in place. AtlanTick knew their tick-repellent products for yard and fabric treatment worked, but they needed to navigate the labyrinth of regulatory process and requirements to ensure they could get it on the shelves and into the hands of consumers.
There are so many critical decisions to make in developing a new product. NPC has been invaluable as a resource of information, connections to key partners and experts, and capital.
NPC’s Solution
NPC provided in-depth guidance to help AtlanTick explore the formulation requirements necessary for the compliance process. They also connected the company to a regulatory consultant and provided $18,000 through their Fast Track to Financing Program to support the work. With this work complete, the company has made applications to Health Canada’s PMRA and hopes these products will soon join their other tick repellent products in market.
NPC is committed to the creation of natural products that are better for people, animals and the planet. We propel early-stage Canadian innovators with the advice, connections and capital they need to develop and de-risk their solutions quickly and efficiently.
