Climate volatility and policy changes only amplify the demand for sustainable, biologically based solutions. Farmers and suppliers are urgently looking for safe, effective tools that protect yields and the planet.

The Challenge

BioSun’s promising biofungicide, with a unique elicitor based mode of action, is designed to control soil-borne pathogens like Rhizoctonia in crops such as potatoes and to provide protection from extreme environmental conditions like heat and cold. But to reach the commercial market, the company must first navigate the rigorous PMRA registration process. This requires robust safety and efficacy data — from demonstrating environmental safety for pollinators and aquatic species, to showing reliable disease control (preventive and curative) under varied growing conditions including abiotic stress. At the same time, BioSun must prove it can scale production to meet market demand while maintaining product consistency and effectiveness.

NPC’s Solution

Through the Proof of Concept Program, NPC is supporting a multi-pronged approach to position BioSun Solutions product for regulatory approval and commercial readiness. This includes generating toxicology data to demonstrate environmental and occupational safety, optimizing application rates to confirm broad efficacy, and scaling the production process to ensure chemical equivalency and manufacturing feasibility. Together, these activities will strengthen the market position, enabling BioSun Solutions to meet both regulatory and operational requirements as it prepares for broader domestic and international distribution.
