Species-specific animal probiotics
-
Finding the oxygen to launch a truly globally-competitive animal health company.
Seeing the opportunity for this cutting-edge animal health technology, NPC worked with the CEO to provide introductions to key industry advisors and investors, and put some skin in the game
The Opportunity
CanBiocin saw the growing interest and body of research supporting probiotics for gut health. But as human probiotics were being introduced to animals, CanBiocin recognized an opportunity to provide more impact with species-specific probiotics – starting with probiotics for dogs derived from the guts of healthy canines. Their hypothesis was right, and put them on track to serve the $5 billion animal probiotics market.
The Challenge
CanBiocin’s technology was sound. The opportunity was real. But the company needed time and connections to implement the various aspects of commercialization.
This was more or less a million dollar raise and NPC was in for roughly a third of it. That process of getting even more oxygen to help us have a longer runway was highly valuable.
NPC’s Solution
CanBiocin had a solid product and strategy. NPC’s input led to a financial plan to provide the capital required to execute that strategy. Making strategic introductions to investors, NPC helped create the conditions for CanBiocin to raise $1 million, of which NPC invested $300,000. This put CanBiocin on track to secure key international contracts and customers to scale their groundbreaking technology.
NPC is committed to the creation of natural products that are better for people, animals and the planet. We propel early-stage Canadian innovators with the advice, connections and capital they need to develop and de-risk their solutions quickly and efficiently.
