Sustainable insect agriculture
-
The startup dilemma: You need to scale to make money. You need money to scale.
How a critical hire helped a sustainable insect agriculture company raise over $47M
The Opportunity
The planet is struggling to produce enough quality protein to feed a growing global population without depleting our natural resources. Entosystem raises insects – a highly efficient and nutritious source of protein for pets, fish and animal feed – while diverting waste from the landfills and producing a valuable soil additive for farmers.
The Challenge
Entosystem had started its insect farming operation with great success. But in 2020, they needed to expand to meet the demand of the large animal feed producers they were targeting. But expansion required a more dedicated and strategic approach to attracting capital than their lean team could handle.
NPC understood us from the start, and have been an important ally for us at multiple points in our journey. Their business and technical guidance, strategic introductions and invaluable capital has led to significant milestones and progress that we are incredibly grateful for.
NPC’s Solution
NPC’s Executive Talent Program enabled Entosystem to hire a CFO, who helped the company prepare for their capital raise. With sound financial documents, including a streamlined business plan and financial models, Entosystem was equipped to meet with potential partners, and soon secured a game-changing $47.4M deal for a new 100,000 square foot production facility.
NPC is committed to the creation of natural products that are better for people, animals and the planet. We propel early-stage Canadian innovators with the advice, connections and capital they need to develop and de-risk their solutions quickly and efficiently.
