Natural wound care

Tapping into the nature’s healing powers.
Designing the business plan for an impressive new wound care product
The Opportunity
Caring for wounds is responsible for almost half of healthcare expenditures, and represents a global market of USD $22.25 billion. Over 90% of chronic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, involve biofilm. Biofilm is a dense community of microbes that form on the wound surface and delay the wound recovery, are resistant to conventional treatments, making them difficult to eradicate. Wound infections can have a significant impact on the quality of life of patients and their families, leading to prolonged hospitalization, increased healthcare costs, and a higher risk of amputation and mortality. Current wound care products struggle to fight the complex communities of bacteria that cause infection and prevent healing. MHCombiotic’s innovative natural formula can prevent infection and promote healing.
The Challenge
MHCombiotic has seen great initial results with its natural antimicrobial wound care formulation. They are pursuing production consistency and preparing for clinical trials in order to receive regulatory approvals. But mastering the product formula is only half the battle; now they need to formulate the business strategy.
There’s so much involved with bringing a new natural health product to market. NPC has been an invaluable guide, and their funds for this planning work will be critical to our success.
NPC’s Solution
NPC provided over $21,000 through its Fast Track To Finance Program to help MHCombiotic develop and refine their commercialization plan. At time of publication work was starting with a suite of strategic consultants, who will craft a business plan, complete with financial models, market research and analysis, regulatory plan, production plan, and IP strategy to help MHCombiotic take their innovative new product to market.
NPC is committed to the creation of natural products that are better for people, animals and the planet. We propel early-stage Canadian innovators with the advice, connections and capital they need to develop and de-risk their solutions quickly and efficiently.
