Transforming food manufacturing waste and agricultural residues into renewable bio-crude oil for carbon sequestration

Turning Waste Into Climate Action
NULIFE GreenTech has cracked the code on turning waste into permanent climate solutions at commercial scale.
The Opportunity
NULIFE GreenTech’s HTL process effectively processes both wet and dry wastes, substantially reducing operating costs, the efforts to manage these wastes and environmental liability for waste generators. The technology solves the food manufacturing, ag residues and biosolids problem by safely processing materials contaminated with heavy metals and PFAS, while addressing climate change by capturing carbon dioxide that would otherwise be released through conventional disposal methods. The company’s commercial-sized processors have been demonstrated in a commercial environment using actual commercial waste since commissioning in July 2023, proving the technology works at scale. NULIFE received a pre-purchase agreement in Sept. 2024 from Frontier members: Stripe, Shopify, H & M and Google for CDRs (carbon dioxide removal credits). NULIFE is delivering the contracted CDRs while negotiating much larger, multi-year offtakes to drive rapid expansion.
The Challenge
Industries generate massive volumes of organic waste with limited sustainable disposal options. NULIFE is taking residuals from a canola crushing plant and an oat mill as well as food processors that were being stockpiled because no economic and sustainable solution existed. Looking ahead, the company plans to process biosolids from wastewater treatment facilities—a critical need as current disposal methods of landfilling or land spreading face mounting environmental concerns. In the United States, increased regulations regarding PFAS contamination, bans on land spreading, and landfill closures are driving disposal costs higher while creating urgent demand for better solutions.
NPC’s Access to Talent support brings us the financial expertise to manage our rapid expansion from two to 48 processors. This builds the foundation for solving North America’s biosolids crisis while making meaningful climate impact.
NPC’s Solution
Through NPC’s Access to Talent program, NULIFE will be hiring for a finance position to manage the company’s rapid expansion. This financial expertise will enable NULIFE to navigate the complex economics of scaling breakthrough climate technology while maintaining operational efficiency.
NPC is committed to the creation of natural products that are better for people, animals and the planet. We propel early-stage Canadian innovators with the advice, connections and capital they need to develop and de-risk their solutions quickly and efficiently.
