Bio-based crop inputs
-
An agricultural input with 2X benefits
This biological solution increases agricultural production while sequestering carbon in soil.
The Opportunity
There’s a growing global challenge to increase food production – and an even bigger challenge to do it in a way that is sustainable and helps to mitigate climate change. There is increasing criticism around synthetic solutions to increase yields or control pests or disease given their potential negative impact on humans, soil, and delicate ecosystems. This presents a tremendous opportunity for natural, bio-based agricultural products.
The Challenge
Reazent is developing a powerful technology to help increase food production while mitigating climate change. Industry was interested in their alternatives to synthetic products – all natural, biobased crop inputs that increase yield, control disease, and promote carbon capture. But it was time for the next steps: extensive field trials, and the important process of regulatory approval.
NPC provided an important injection of capital for a very specific need at a crucial time. They understand the many steps involved in taking a highly innovative product to market, and that makes all the difference.
NPC’s Solution
NPC provided Reazent with $15,600 through the Fast Track to Financing Program to engage regulatory consultants to help with their pre-submission and registration for approval as a biofertilizer in the US and Canada. With this key step under their belts, Reazent is closer to regulatory approval, and small-scale production. This project also contributed to Reazent’s success in attracting additional public and private capital and industry exposure like their placement in the Radicle Growth Challenge.
NPC is committed to the creation of natural products that are better for people, animals and the planet. We propel early-stage Canadian innovators with the advice, connections and capital they need to develop and de-risk their solutions quickly and efficiently.
