Wastewater monitoring

Helping preserve our planet’s most precious resource.
A powerful technology leverages tiny microbes to detect issues in wastewater treatment
The Opportunity
Water. It’s a key component of life. With the growing global demand for fresh and drinkable water, industries and municipalities are focused on two things: water use and water treatment. SENTRY leverages the electrode surfaces of microbes – tiny bacteria – to detect contaminated water and wastewater with its real-time monitoring system.
The Challenge
Wastewater treatment managers rely on speed and accuracy to ensure they can make the best decisions and act quickly to address any problems in their wastewater system. SENTRY uses microbes to detect challenging wastewater conditions such as industrial discharge or toxic compounds. Once detected, their solution sends a real-time alert to the treatment manager so they can act quickly. SENTRY had strong interest from customers but needed cash to carry out their commercialization plan.
NPC was one of our early investors. They supported development of our minimal viable product and asked the right questions in relation to our early commercial strategy.
NPC’s Solution
NPC invested $250,000 into SENTRY, helping to complete their 2018 capital raise. The investment helped the company address its key hurdles, including building out its sales strategy and process, conducting customer pilot trials, and generating awareness. SENTRY has gone on to raise over $4M of additional private and public financing and is generating an estimated $2M in annual revenue.
NPC is committed to the creation of natural products that are better for people, animals and the planet. We propel early-stage Canadian innovators with the advice, connections and capital they need to develop and de-risk their solutions quickly and efficiently.
