    Plant-Based Seedpod Field Validation

Testing and validating a biodegradable Seedpod technology under real-world conditions across three Canadian ecozones.

    The Opportunity

Global reforestation and ecological restoration spending is estimated at $30 to $35B annually. The Canadian serviceable addressable market is approximately CAD $10 to $15B. The urgency of post-wildfire reforestation in western Canada has intensified demand for effective, scalable solutions. Conventional aerial seeding achieves less than 5% seedling establishment. TreeTrack’s Seedpod technology achieves approximately 55% establishment at a cost of $0.73 per established stem, compared to $1.27 for manual planting.

    The Challenge

Advancing from TRL 7 to TRL 8 requires independently validated biological performance across diverse hydrological regimes. Seedpod needs standardized formulation specifications, functional quality control metrics, batch traceability systems, and validated performance data across three distinct Canadian ecozones. This evidence base is required before government agencies and large forestry operators will commit to commercial procurement.

NPC’s support is helping us generate the independent field validation needed to accelerate commercialization of our Seedpod technology. By supporting trials across multiple Canadian ecozones, NPC is enabling TreeTrack to demonstrate performance under real-world conditions and build the evidence required for large-scale deployment with forestry companies, governments, and restoration partners.

    NPC’s Solution

NPC’s Proof of Concept Program is supporting TreeTrack Intelligence with field trials across British Columbia and Canada to test and validate their plant-based Seedpod technology under real-world conditions. The project spans three Canadian ecozones: coastal temperate, interior continental, and semi-dry to semi-arid. It includes trials at partner-managed sites such as the UBC Malcolm Knapp Research Forest. The biodegradable Seedpod is engineered as a programmable seed-stage microenvironment to regulate moisture, control degradation timing, and reduce early-stage predation. NPC is committed to the creation of natural products that are better for people, animals, and the planet. They propel early-stage Canadian innovators with the advice, connections, and capital needed to rapidly develop, validate, and scale transformative solutions.
