Terra Bioindustries is a cleantech startup that has created a unique upcycling platform to turn a single agrifood waste stream into multiple circular products. Starting with spent grains from beer production, they have upcycling them into two high value products: Protina and Recyclose. Protina is a fibre-rich, protein concentrate with more than 55% protein and less than 1% carbs. Food producers can use Protina in alternative meat recipes, baked goods, snacks, and more. Recyclose is a crystalline sugar mixture made from food waste and behaves similarly to traditional glucose feedstocks. The startup has secured non-dilutive capital from several funding agencies and is identifying production facilities, strategic partners and planning commercial distribution in 2023 and 2024.
